COMMUNITY GRANTS PROGRAM

COMMUNITY GRANTS PROGRAM (the Program)

Weston Creek Community Association Inc. (WCCA) is a local association formed in 1972. The WCCA administers the Weston Creek Community Centre, the Weston Neighbourhood Hall, Flynn Community Hall, Holt

Neighbourhood Hall and Chifley Community Meeting Room on behalf of the ACT Government.

The WCCA’s operating surpluses are reinvested in its services and

maintaining the high quality of the facilities it manages.  Any funds left over after meeting its obligations are able to be directed to activities in line with the WCCA’s purpose.

This year the WCCA is funding a Community Grants Program (the Program) to provide financial support for projects that promotes community cohesion, development and support, primarily in Weston Creek, Molonglo and surrounding suburbs.

Projects which deliver benefit to the community, impact on social equity and equality as well as impact on community and/or individual health and wellbeing will receive high priority.

A total fund of $20,000 for the Program is available for applications from $1,000 and upwards.  Applications must be submitted between

1 May and 31 May 2024.

Information on the Program Guidelines including the Application Form can be obtained by contacting Yung Tran, Manager Weston Creek Community Centre on 6288 0144, 0466 726 785

Fetherston Garden Friends

Fetherston Garden Friends (FGF) are a local volunteer community organisation formed in 2010 to restore and regenerate Fetherston Gardens. This dedicated group of volunteers maintain the 3.5 hectare public garden located along Heysen Street in Weston.

Fetherston Gardens are over 50 years old and include an Arboretum; Woodland, Herb, Native, Secret and Gallipoli gardens and open green spaces, arbors, ponds and a maze of paths. These peaceful Gardens are used for picnics, relaxing, exploring, exercise and walking.

The volunteers work in the Gardens every Wednesday from 10am to noon and the last Sunday of each month from 10am to 1pm.

We are delighted to say that the Fetherston Gardens Friends are now an associated organisation with Weston Creek Community Association Inc. (WCCA).  The WCCA was formed in the early 1970s when the Weston Creek area was being developed and is an incorporated, not-for-profit community organisation.  The WCCA manages Weston Creek Community Centre and four other facilities around Canberra.

If you are interested in receiving further information regarding services of either organisation, please email fetherstongardens@gmail.com for FGF and info@westoncccentre.org.au for the WCCA.
